Dental Sleep Therapy

Dental Appliances for Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a common sleep disorder that occurs when the upper airway becomes blocked, usually by the tongue pushing against the soft palate, which collapses against the back of the throat, reducing airflow.

When left untreated, sleep apnea can lead to serious complications such as heart attack, glaucoma, diabetes, cancer and cognitive and behavioral disorders.

Sleep apnea is often treated with continuous positive air pressure machines. However, CPAP machines don’t work for everyone. We offer an alternative solution with our oral appliance that fits like a mouth guard or orthodontic retainer and can be worn at night.

Oral appliance therapy effectively treats snoring and obstructive sleep apnea by repositioning the jaw and opening up the airway. This approach improves quality of sleep, which gives you more energy and a better quality of life.

Dr. John works directly with a sleep doctor who diagnoses and assesses each case.

Although not all dental insurance plans cover oral appliances, many medical insurance providers do provide coverage.
