Dr. John is board-certified in administering Botox, dermal fillers and PDO threads. These are safe, non-invasive solutions for facial wrinkles, sagging skin and other cosmetic conditions.
What is Botox and what are the benefits of it?
- Botox is an injection used to relax muscles in the face, which can help with the treatment of:
- Facial and neck wrinkles, including:
• “Bunny lines” under the eyes
• “Crow’s feet” in the corner of the eyes
• Forehead wrinkles
• Radial lip lines, commonly referred to as “smoker lines”
• Platysma bands in the neck - Excessive gum tissue or small teeth that result in a “gummy smile”
- Lip border, or a small top lip, commonly treated with the “Botox lip flip”
- Tension headaches and migraines
- Oral and facial pain
- Teeth-clenching and grinding
The relatively painless injections are scheduled over the course of one to two weeks, and each one takes only a few seconds. The number of injections may depend on the number and depth of wrinkles, or the severity of headaches, clenching or grinding.
Botox initially lasts approximately three months, but when received routinely, its results can last up to five to six months.
Like any injection, the side effects may include temporary bruising or mild bleeding.
What is a dermal filler and what are its benefits?
A dermal filler is a soft tissue filler injected into the skin to help fill in facial wrinkles and restore lost volume or facial folds. We offer several industry-leading brands, including Juvederm (Ultra, Voluma, Volbella and Vollure), Radiesse, Belotero Balance and Restylane.
Fillers are most commonly used to treat:
• Nasolabial folds, commonly known as “smile lines” that run from the nose to the mouth
• Lip commissures, lines around the corners of the lips
• Marionette lines, creases that run downward from the mouth
• Lip volume
• Cheek enhancement
• Small spaces between teeth, commonly known as “black triangles”
Similar to Botox, a dermal filler is administered in sessions and may take up to two weeks to deliver results, although each patient is different. Injections typically take between five and 10 minutes. The results can last longer than those of Botox, though this differs for each patient as well.
Side effects may include bruising and mild bleeding.
What is a Polydioxanone thread and what are its benefits?
PDO threads provide another non-surgical, long-lasting and natural-looking solution for wrinkled or sagging skin. The threads replace and add collagen and elastin to damaged areas, tightening the skin and allowing your body to build its own collagen over time.
Sterile hypodermic needles are preloaded with an absorbable PDO suture thread and injected under the skin. The threads allow for better blood flow, which tightens the skin over time.
Threads are most commonly used to treat facial and neck wrinkles, including the following areas:
• Forehead
• Glabella lines, in between the eyebrows
• Eyebrows
• Temple
• Crow’s feet
• Tear trough, under the eyes
• Cheeks
• Nasolabial lines
• Smoker lines
• Lip border
• Lip volume
• Marionette lines
• Jawline
• Chin
• Neck
